Christchurch has many attractions & activities to offer visitors.
The beautiful Botanic Gardens are a prime example. With the Avon River flowing through it, visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the gardens or hop aboard the Caterpillar Garden Tour and enjoy the trees & plants. Another option is to take a relaxing ride along the Avon in a classic punt with deep-cushioned seats, while your Edwardian punter poles you quietly past trailing willows, leafy banks & woodlands.
The Canterbury Museum & the Christchurch Art Gallery are only a short walk across the road, and an enjoyable way to see some other inner-city sights is to climb aboard the tram and let the driver provide you with an entertaining commentary.
The International Antarctic Centre & Orana Wildlife Park are both excellent experiences for everyone, young & old. Visit the kiwis at the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve or catch a Maori concert in the evening.
Some of Canterbury's major ski fields are a 90min drive away, as is the hotpools at Hanmer Springs Alpine Village.
